Born in Taipei, Chin-Fei Chan started her musical journey at the age of 5 with piano lessons and flute lessons after she turned 8. In 2009, she moved to the bay area after completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in flute performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Chin-Fei performs actively on both the flute and the piano as a soloist, chamber musician and piano accompanist within the United States and Asia. In addition, Chin-Fei has accompanied live dance performances and has extensive experience working with dancers and musicians on the Alexander Technique. She has been on the faculty of the Community School of Music and Arts since 2010.
Horn Player and composer Daniel Wood lives in Mountain View and has performed over 1000 concerts and recorded 4 albums with his horn quartet, Quadre since 1998. Music composition and brass faculty with the SF Conservatory of Music (prep division) and the Community School of Music and Arts, he lectures on business, runs a sheet music publishing company called Solid Wood Publishing representing 20 composers in 150 works, and freelances with many of the Bay Area's professional ensembles.
Percussionist James Kassis has worked as a freelance musician and teacher in the San Francisco Bay area since 1987 with extensive performing experience in many genres of music, including symphony orchestras, operas, new music ensembles, non-western music ensembles, and popular music ensembles. Notably, James is a member of many new music groups in the bay area including Marin Alsop’s Cabrillo Festival Orchestra. James is a faculty member of Santa Clara University and the Community School of Music and Arts.
